About the Opportunity
A leading middle-market investment bank is seeking an Associate to join its growing Restructuring & Special Situations practice. The team advises companies, private equity sponsors, lenders, creditor groups, and other stakeholders on complex situations, including liability management transactions, distressed M&A, recapitalizations, rescue financings, strategic alternatives, and both in-court and out-of-court restructurings.

Responsibilities
- Execute restructuring, recapitalization, distressed M&A, and special situations transactions
- Build and maintain complex financial models, including liquidity forecasts, recovery analyses, valuation models, and restructuring scenarios
- Analyze capital structures, debt agreements, covenants, and stakeholder positions
- Prepare marketing materials, restructuring presentations, creditor analyses, board presentations, and transaction documentation
- Conduct financial, industry, and strategic analyses to support client engagements
- Assist in evaluating strategic alternatives for debtors, creditors, sponsors, and investors
- Participate in client meetings, lender discussions, management presentations, and due diligence processes
- Coordinate transaction execution with clients, attorneys, lenders, investors, and other advisors
- Support business development initiatives and new client opportunities
Qualifications
- 2-5 years of investment banking experience within a dedicated Restructuring, Financial Restructuring, Special Situations, or Liability Management group
- Direct transaction experience involving restructurings, distressed M&A, recapitalizations, liability management exercises, or other special situations mandates
- Strong financial modeling and valuation skills
- Experience evaluating debt instruments, capital structures, covenant packages, and recovery scenarios
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and project management capabilities
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Bachelor's degree with a strong academic record
