Investment Banking Associate, M&A
Key Responsibilities
- Support end‑to‑end execution of cross‑border M&A transactions with a core focus on Greater China (Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan), spanning buy-side, sell-side, and strategic advisory mandates
- Develop and maintain robust financial models (DCF, trading comps, precedent transactions) to underpin valuation analysis, deal structuring, and client recommendations
- Produce high-quality client materials including pitchbooks, information memoranda, and management presentations for senior stakeholders and board-level discussions
- Coordinate due diligence processes, manage data rooms, and liaise with legal, financial, and industry advisors across multiple jurisdictions
- Work closely with senior bankers to manage timelines, track deliverables, and ensure smooth transaction execution across all stages of the deal lifecycle
- Conduct detailed market, industry, and company research to support both live transactions and origination initiatives
- Engage with clients and counterparties internationally, contributing to effective communication across different regulatory, cultural, and language environments
- Provide analytical support during negotiations and documentation, contributing to successful deal outcomes
Requirements
- 3-6 years of experience in M&A, investment banking, or corporate finance, with exposure to Greater China transactions preferred
- Demonstrated involvement in cross‑border M&A, with a solid understanding of multi‑jurisdictional deal execution and associated complexities
- Strong financial modelling and valuation capabilities, with high attention to detail and accuracy under tight deadlines
- Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment while maintaining consistent quality of output
- Clear and professional communication skills, with the confidence to interact with clients, advisors, and senior stakeholders
- Fluency in English and Mandarin is essential; Cantonese or additional Asian language skills are beneficial in a regional context
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; progress toward CFA or similar qualifications is advantageous
- Strong work ethic, team-oriented mindset, and a proactive approach to taking ownership of tasks within a high-performance deal environment
