Full Stack Software Engineer
About the Role
We are partnering with a Tier-1 global hedge fund to hire a Full Stack Software Engineer for its Technology Team in Shanghai.
This is a unique opportunity to join a highly technical and collaborative environment where engineering sits at the heart of the investment process. You will work closely with portfolio managers, researchers, traders, and fellow engineers to build scalable platforms, internal products, and business-critical systems that support investment research, portfolio management, and trading operations.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications that support the firm's research, investment, and trading workflows.
- Build scalable backend services, internal platforms, and user-facing tools used by researchers, portfolio managers, and traders.
- Partner closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate ideas into high-quality production systems.
- Own projects end-to-end, from architecture design and implementation to deployment, monitoring, and ongoing improvements.
- Develop robust APIs, data pipelines, and workflow automation systems that improve operational efficiency and business productivity.
- Drive technical architecture discussions and influence engineering best practices across the organization.
- Leverage modern development methodologies, AI-assisted engineering tools, and automation frameworks to accelerate delivery and improve software quality.
- Continuously enhance platform reliability, scalability, maintainability, and developer experience.
- Contribute to the evolution of the firm's engineering infrastructure and technology stack.
- Collaborate with globally distributed teams to deliver solutions that support a fast-paced investment environment.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong programming skills in one or more modern languages (e.g. Java, Python, C++, C#, Go, Scala, TypeScript, Rust).
- Proven experience building production-grade backend systems and web applications.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, distributed systems, and engineering best practices.
- Experience designing and delivering complex systems that scale reliably in production environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to tackle ambiguous technical challenges.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to translate business requirements into elegant technical solutions.
- Self-driven, intellectually curious, and comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building internal platforms, developer tools, workflow systems, or enterprise applications.
- Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js, etc.).
- Experience with cloud technologies, containerization, CI/CD, and modern software delivery practices.
- Exposure to data-intensive applications, distributed computing, or high-performance systems.
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering productivity frameworks.
- Interest in financial markets, investing, quantitative research, or trading technologies.
