Executive Underwriter
A leading U.S. property & casualty insurance carrier is seeking a Senior Commercial Lines Field Underwriter to join its growing team. This individual will play a key role in managing and expanding a profitable commercial book of business while building strong relationships with agency partners throughout the territory.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced underwriter who enjoys a blend of field marketing, agency development, and technical underwriting across small to middle market commercial accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite and manage a profitable portfolio of commercial lines business.
- Evaluate new and renewal submissions across a wide range of industries and risk profiles.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with independent agency partners.
- Conduct agency visits and territory travel to support production and strengthen partnerships.
- Analyze risk characteristics, coverage needs, and pricing considerations to make sound underwriting decisions.
- Collaborate with internal teams including claims, loss control, and operations to provide exceptional service.
- Identify opportunities for profitable growth within the assigned territory.
- Balance production objectives with underwriting discipline and portfolio profitability.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Commercial Lines underwriting experience.
- Experience underwriting small to middle market commercial accounts.
- Strong understanding of property, general liability, commercial auto, workers compensation, umbrella, and package coverages.
- Proven ability to build agency relationships and generate profitable business.
- Excellent communication, relationship management, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently in a field-based underwriting capacity.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
