About the Opportunity
A highly respected and well-capitalized insurance organization is seeking an experienced Agribusiness Underwriter to join its growing specialty underwriting team. This role focuses on evaluating and underwriting agricultural risks while building strong broker and client relationships within the agribusiness sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite agribusiness accounts, including farms, ranches, and agricultural operations
- Assess risks across property, casualty, and liability exposures specific to the agriculture industry
- Analyze submissions and determine pricing, terms, and coverage structures within underwriting authority
- Develop and manage a profitable book of agribusiness business
- Build and maintain relationships with agents, brokers, and distribution partners
- Collaborate with internal teams including claims, loss control, and actuarial
- Stay informed on agricultural trends, market conditions, and emerging risks (e.g., weather, commodity shifts)
- Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- 3-7+ years of commercial underwriting experience, with agribusiness or farm/ranch focus preferred
- Strong knowledge of farm & ranch, agribusiness property/casualty, or related coverages
- Solid analytical, risk assessment, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and broker relationship management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple accounts in a fast-paced environment
- Bachelor's degree required; CPCU, AU, or AFIS designations are a plus
