We are partnering with a well-established, growing employee benefits brokerage seeking an experienced Consultant to serve as a strategic advisor to a portfolio of mid-sized and large employer clients. This individual will play a key role in client retention, benefits strategy, service delivery, and ongoing relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of employer groups with fully insured, level-funded, and self-funded health and welfare programs.
- Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for clients, building trusted relationships with HR leaders, executives, and key stakeholders.
- Lead client service strategies focused on retention, satisfaction, and long-term partnership development.
- Oversee implementations, renewals, and ongoing account management activities.
- Coordinate with carriers, vendors, compliance resources, payroll teams, and internal stakeholders to deliver effective client solutions.
- Prepare and present renewal strategies, financial analyses, benchmarking data, and benefit recommendations.
- Assist with employee communications, enrollment planning, and benefits education efforts.
- Monitor regulatory developments, market trends, and carrier updates to provide proactive guidance to clients.
- Manage complex service issues and escalations while ensuring timely resolution.
- Maintain accurate account documentation, reporting, and client records within agency management systems.
- Leverage technology, analytics, and automation tools to improve operational efficiency and client outcomes.
- Support business development and growth initiatives through client relationship expansion and participation in prospect opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Active Life & Health license required.
- 4+ years of employee benefits experience within a brokerage, consulting firm, agency, carrier, or related environment.
- Experience supporting fully insured, self-funded, and level-funded plans.
- Strong understanding of employee benefits, renewals, compliance, and account management best practices.
- Ability to communicate complex benefits and financial concepts to diverse client audiences.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and relationship management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and benefits administration/account management systems.
Preferred Background
- Experience managing mid-market and large-group clients.
- Exposure to renewal strategy, contribution modeling, benchmarking, and benefit plan design.
- Demonstrated ability to lead client meetings and work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders.
