Commodities Equity Analyst | Chinese Mutual Fund
Selby Jennings has partnered with a multi‑billion USD Chinese mutual fund to hire a Commodity Analyst to join their Equity Investment team. This role will focus on global commodity-related equities under the QDII mandate, covering areas such as metals (copper, gold, iron ore) and energy (oil & gas), and will work closely with senior portfolio managers and the CIO.

Responsibilities:
- Support the CIO and Portfolio Managers within the equity investment business in covering the commodities and materials sector
- Conduct bottom-up fundamental research on global commodity-related equities across metals, mining, and energy
- Build and maintain financial models, valuation frameworks, and industry databases
- Generate actionable investment ideas for inclusion in QDII portfolios
- Monitor and analyze macro, industry, and supply-demand trends impacting commodity prices and related equities
- Track company fundamentals, earnings, and key operating metrics, and provide timely investment updates
- Participate in internal investment discussions and contribute to portfolio construction decisions
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or above from a 211 / 985 university (or overseas equivalent)
- 3+ years of experience in fundamental equity research (buy-side or sell-side)
- Prior experience covering commodities, materials, metals, mining, or energy
- Strong understanding of financial statements, accounting, and valuation
- Solid grasp of how macro and industry cycles affect commodity-related equities
- Detail-oriented, diligent, and professional work ethic
- Demonstrated strong interest in investing and capital markets
