APAC Consumer Investment Analyst - Long-Biased Hedge Fund
A single-CIO hedge fund is seeking an Asia Consumer Analyst to join its expanding investment team. The fund employs a deep fundamental research approach and has built a strong reputation for alpha generation, particularly through short trading. The strategy is long-biased with a concentrated long portfolio, and the team is growing rapidly due to continued success.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct detailed bottom-up research on companies within consumer sector.
  • Identify high-conviction long ideas for inclusion in a concentrated portfolio.
  • Support short idea generation through fundamental analysis and market insights.
  • Build and maintain financial models, industry maps, and valuation frameworks.
  • Present investment theses and contribute to portfolio discussions with the CIO and team.
  • Monitor macro and regulatory developments impacting the consumer landscape.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • At least 4 years of experience in equity research, long/short investing, or private equity.
  • Prior exposure to long short strategies is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Asia's consumer markets and competitive dynamics.
  • Fluent in both English and Chinese (Mandarin), with strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate differentiated insights and contribute to alpha generation.
