ABS Trader - Hedge Fund
We are partnering with a leading global hedge fund to appoint an experienced ABS Trader to join its London investment team. This is a high‑impact role for a seasoned structured credit professional with a strong track record in ABS trading and risk‑taking, looking to operate within a nimble, performance‑driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively trade a range of ABS products (including RMBS, CMBS, consumer, auto, and esoteric ABS as applicable) across primary and secondary markets
- Generate relative‑value and directional trade ideas in collaboration with portfolio managers and analysts
- Manage risk dynamically, with full ownership of P&L within defined mandates
- Source liquidity, maintain strong dealer relationships, and contribute to market colour and intelligence
- Support portfolio construction through pricing, structuring insights, and capital allocation considerations
- Contribute to ongoing development of trading strategies, analytics, and execution processes
Candidate Profile
- 6-12 years' experience trading ABS within a hedge fund, asset manager or bank.
- Demonstrated, consistent P&L generation and strong understanding of structured credit markets
- Deep product knowledge across key ABS subsectors, with strong technical and cash‑flow modelling intuition
- Proven ability to operate with autonomy and accountability in a fast‑paced, performance‑oriented setting
- Strong market instincts, risk discipline, and execution capability
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
