Overview
Our client is an A+ rated national Property & Casualty insurance carrier with a strong reputation for underwriting discipline, long-term stability, and broker partnerships. They are seeking a Senior Middle Market Underwriter to join their growing Atlanta team.
This role offers a balanced mix of new business and renewals, broad underwriting authority, and the opportunity to work across all major lines of P&C business within the middle market segment.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite and manage a Middle Market P&C portfolio, including a blend of new business production and renewal retention
- Analyze and price risks across multiple lines of coverage (e.g., General Liability, Property, Auto, Umbrella, Workers' Comp, etc.)
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with retail and wholesale brokerage partners
- Evaluate submissions, negotiate terms and conditions, and make sound underwriting decisions within assigned authority
- Collaborate with internal teams including claims, loss control, and underwriting management to deliver best-in-class service
- Actively contribute to portfolio management, profitability, and growth initiatives
- Maintain compliance with underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and internal best practices
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Middle Market P&C underwriting experience
- Strong understanding of multi-line P&C coverage and risk analysis
- Proven ability to manage both new business development and renewal accounts
- Established broker relationships within the Atlanta or Southeast market preferred
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment and collaborate across teams
