Overview
A well-established energy trading organization is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join its technology team. This individual will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining critical systems that support energy trading activities across European markets.
The position offers the opportunity to work directly with traders, quantitative specialists, and business stakeholders, developing scalable and reliable solutions that have a direct impact on trading performance.
Energy trading experience and Dutch language proficiency are essential requirements for this role.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain software applications supporting energy trading and market operations.
- Collaborate closely with traders and commercial teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Develop and enhance trading tools, integrations, analytics platforms, and operational systems.
- Improve system performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Participate in system architecture discussions and contribute to long-term technology strategy.
- Work across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering through deployment and support.
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to engineering best practices.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional software development experience.
- Proven experience working within energy trading, power trading, gas trading, or related energy markets.
- Fluent Dutch language skills.
- Strong programming experience in one or more modern languages such as Python, C#, Java, or similar.
- Experience working with databases, APIs, and distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, testing, and system design.
- Ability to work closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Background
- Experience building systems used directly by traders or commercial teams.
- Knowledge of European power, gas, or renewable energy markets.
- Experience with cloud technologies and modern development practices.
- Familiarity with data analytics, forecasting, or optimization solutions within the energy sector.
