Private Equity Associate
Selby Jennings is working with a Technology and Software focused Private Equity firm in Austin, TX that is seeking an Associate addition to their investment team in 2025. This is a career track opportunity with a growing investment firm that has great track record since inception. They make growth and late stage control investments in lower middle market businesses in a variety of verticals across the technology sector.
Responsibilities:
- Proactively source new investment opportunities and build relationships with software founders
- Lead industry and market research, including competitive analysis and thematic sourcing themes
- Conduct financial, business, and market analysis to assess investment potential
- Prepare and maintain robust financial and valuation analyses
- Drive due diligence efforts (e.g., customer calls, financial reviews, market analysis)
- Prepare investment memoranda and presentations to make recommendations for our investment committee
- Support portfolio company initiatives alongside our operating partners and senior investment team members
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of experience in investment banking (or similar background), with exposure to software/TMT coverage
- Passion for B2B software, with an ability to empathize with operators and founders
- Strong financial, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Familiarity with the investment deal process, including key stages and areas of commercial diligence
