NLP Data Scientist - Hedge Fund | UAE
The Role
We're looking for an NLP-focused Data Scientist to join our research team. You'll work on extracting insights from vast volumes of textual data-news, filings, transcripts, social media, and more-to support systematic trading strategies and macroeconomic forecasting.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement NLP pipelines to process and analyze unstructured text data
- Apply techniques such as sentiment analysis, topic modeling, entity recognition, and embeddings
- Build predictive models using textual signals to inform investment decisions
- Collaborate with quants and PMs to integrate NLP outputs into trading strategies
- Evaluate and experiment with LLMs, transformers, and other state-of-the-art models
- Source and assess alternative text-based datasets (e.g., earnings calls, Reddit, ESG reports)
What We're Looking For
- 2-6 years of experience in NLP, preferably in finance, tech, or research
- Strong Python skills with experience in NLP libraries (e.g., spaCy, Hugging Face, NLTK, Gensim)
- Deep understanding of machine learning and language modeling techniques
- Experience working with large-scale text corpora and time-sensitive data
- Familiarity with financial markets or economic indicators is a strong plus
- MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, or a related field
