Fundamental Analyst - APAC Technology (Quantamental Strategy)
A leading global investment firm is seeking a Fundamental Equity Analyst to join its APAC‑focused investment team, covering Technology, Technology Hardware, and Semiconductor equities across the region. The role operates within a quantamental / semi‑systematic investment framework, blending deep fundamental research with quantitative insights to drive discretionary and directional investment decisions.
The position is open to candidates from both buy‑side and sell‑side backgrounds, provided they demonstrate strong sector expertise, commercial judgement, and the ability to translate research into actionable investment ideas.
The analyst will have direct ownership of names and P&L, working closely with traders and quantitative teams in a fast‑paced, high‑performance environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in‑depth fundamental equity research on APAC large‑cap and mega‑cap technology, hardware, and semiconductor companies
- Develop high‑conviction investment ideas grounded in bottom‑up analysis and strong industry knowledge
- Actively monitor catalyst events, earnings, supply‑chain developments, regulatory changes, and breaking news across the APAC region
- Apply fundamental insights within a quantamental framework to express discretionary and directional views
- Partner closely with traders and quantitative researchers to leverage data‑driven signals for idea generation, filtering, and risk management
- Maintain ownership of covered names and associated P&L, including position sizing and risk considerations
- Utilize options where appropriate to express views and manage downside risk
- Continuously reassess coverage universe and stay ahead of regional and global technology trends
Required Experience & Skills
Experience in fundamental equity research covering APAC Technology, Tech Hardware, and/or Semiconductor sectors
Candidates may come from:
- Buy‑side roles (hedge funds, long/short equity, long onlys, proprietary trading platforms), or
- Sell‑side roles (equity research, sector specialists) with a strong stock‑picking and investment mindset
- Deep understanding of industry structure, competitive dynamics, and valuation methodologies
- Ability to form independent, high‑conviction views and operate effectively in a time‑sensitive environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Solid understanding of options and their application in equity investing
- Experience using Python and/or SQL for analysis, data interrogation, or idea generation
- Prior exposure to quantamental, semi‑systematic, or systematic investment approaches
- Proficiency in Asian languages (e.g. Mandarin, Korean, Japanese) is beneficial but not required

- Role can be based in Hong Kong or Sydney
