Equity Research Associate / Analyst - SMID Cap Equities
A well-established institutional brokerage and investment banking platform is seeking an Equity Research Associate or Analyst to join its growing research team covering Small and Mid-Cap equities within one of the following sectors:
- Technology
- Consumer
- Industrials
- Alternative Energy / Energy Transition
The team is recognized for providing differentiated, fundamental research to institutional investors and maintaining strong relationships with corporate management teams across its coverage universe.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct fundamental equity research on publicly traded small and mid-cap companies.
- Build and maintain detailed operating models, earnings forecasts, and valuation analyses.
- Analyze earnings reports, SEC filings, industry publications, and alternative data sources to develop actionable investment insights.
- Publish equity research reports, earnings notes, industry updates, and thematic research pieces.
- Participate in company management meetings, earnings calls, industry conferences, and investor events.
- Develop differentiated views on company fundamentals, industry trends, and key investment catalysts.
- Assist with marketing research ideas to institutional investors, including hedge funds, mutual funds, and family offices.
- Respond to client inquiries and support the team's broader franchise-building efforts.
- Monitor market developments and identify emerging investment opportunities within the coverage universe.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 3-10 years of experience in Equity Research, Investment Banking, Asset Management, Corporate Finance, or a related analytical role.
- Strong financial modeling and valuation capabilities.
- Excellent analytical, quantitative, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities with the capacity to translate complex ideas into clear investment theses.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint proficiency; experience with Bloomberg, FactSet, or CapIQ is preferred.
- CFA designation or progress toward the CFA is a plus
