We are partnering with a fast-growing leader in energy & commodities trading with strategic asset play across the globe. As part of their expansion plans, they are seeking to strengthen the analytics team through hiring a Crude Oil Trading Analyst to play a critical role in supporting the traders with timely, accurate, and commercially relevant analysis.

As the Crude Trading Analyst, you will be monitoring global crude markets, supply-demand dynamics, refinery economics, freight fundamentals, and geopolitical developments to identify trading opportunities and risks. This is an opportunity for someone who thrives in fast-paced trading environments and wants to step into a role that sits close to the commercial decision-making process.

Responsibilities

  • Track and analyze global crude oil supply-demand balances, production trends, trade flows, and inventory data
  • Maintain and develop quantitative models to support trading strategies, including balances, pricing models, and arbitrage analytics
  • Monitor refinery margins, crude slates, maintenance schedules, and product yields to assess demand for various grades
  • Evaluate geopolitical events, OPEC+ decisions, sanctions, and macroeconomic indicators impacting crude markets
  • Produce daily/weekly market reports summarizing key price drivers, shifts in fundamentals, and strategic implications
  • Collaborate closely with traders on idea generation, scenario analysis, and back‑testing of trade concepts
  • Analyze shipping and freight market developments to identify logistical constraints or opportunities
  • Engage with market data providers, brokers, and counterparties to gather high-quality market intelligence
  • Contribute to the continuous development of internal tools, databases, and forecasting methodologies

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Data Science, or related discipline
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in crude oil analysis, oil trading floors, consulting, or research organizations
  • Strong understanding of crude grades, quality differentials, pricing mechanisms, refinery economics, and global energy flows
  • Proficiency in analytical tools (Excel, Python, SQL, or similar); ability to build and maintain models independently
  • Familiarity with market platforms such as Platts, Argus, Kpler, Vortexa, Bloomberg, or ICE
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to distill complexity into clear, actionable insights
  • Strong commercial instincts and high attention to detail in fast-paced environments
  • Comfortable working closely with traders and contributing to discussions on market structure and trade ideas
  • Self‑starter mindset-able to challenge assumptions and bring fresh perspectives
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines with accuracy
  • Passion for global markets, geopolitics, and energy economics
