Biofuels Trader
Overview
Our client is a major global energy company with a strong presence across refining, trading, marketing, and renewable fuels. As part of its growing renewables business, they are seeking a commercially driven Biofuels Trader to develop and manage trading activities across biofuels and feedstocks markets, supporting both regional and global growth initiatives. The role offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic trading environment, driving profitability through market analysis, risk management, and the execution of physical and financial trading strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage physical and financial trading positions across biofuels and feedstocks markets.
- Generate commercial value and profitability through effective trading, market analysis, and risk management.
- Identify, originate, and execute new sourcing, trading, and business development opportunities.
- Manage portfolio exposure and implement hedging strategies to mitigate market risks.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and trading counterparties.
- Negotiate and secure long-term supply and offtake agreements.
- Optimize storage, logistics, and supply chain activities to maximize portfolio value.
- Monitor and communicate market intelligence, regulatory developments, and trading opportunities to internal stakeholders.
- Partner closely with Trading, Refining, Marketing, Emerging Energy, and other commercial teams to support business objectives.
- Support regional compliance requirements and contribute to the growth of the biofuels platform.
Requirements
- Experience trading physical biofuels.
- Demonstrated track record of generating trading profits and identifying commercial opportunities within biofuels markets.
- Experience managing physical and/or paper trading positions with a strong understanding of risk management and hedging strategies.
- Strong knowledge of biofuels value chains, feedstock economics, and market fundamentals.
- Proven ability to make commercial decisions with meaningful financial impact.
- Strong relationship management skills with counterparties, suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
- Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced trading environment.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience trading SAF, HVO, Renewable Diesel, Biodiesel, or related renewable fuel products.
- Understanding of agricultural commodity markets and feedstock pricing dynamics.
- Experience across refinery, blending, marketing, logistics, storage optimization, or marine operations.
- Strong understanding of global biofuels regulations and energy market fundamentals.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline.
