About the Firm
Our client is an SBIC-licensed private credit fund focused on sponsor-backed transactions in the lower middle market. They target businesses in business services, non-discretionary consumer, industrials, manufacturing, retail, and select healthcare, partnering with private equity sponsors managing funds in the $100MM-$300MM range. Typical portfolio companies have EBITDA of $3-$12MM.
Role Overview
The firm is seeking a Vice President of Originations to drive deal flow by building relationships with PE sponsors, small commercial banks, and LMM investment banks. This is a business development-heavy role for someone entrepreneurial and aggressive, with strong connectivity in the sponsor community.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and originate sponsor-backed credit opportunities in the lower middle market.
- Build and maintain relationships with PE sponsors ($100MM-$300MM fund size), commercial banks ($1B-$25B in assets), and LMM advisory firms.
- Attend industry events and conferences to expand the firm's presence.
- Conduct proactive outreach, including cold calling, to initiate dialogue and generate opportunities.
- Collaborate with the investment team on structuring and closing transactions.
Ideal Candidate
- Background in commercial banking or LMM investment banking, looking to transition into private credit.
- Strong understanding of credit products and sponsor-backed financing.
- Existing connectivity with PE sponsors and regional banks is highly desirable.
- Entrepreneurial, aggressive, and motivated to build relationships and drive origination.
