Vice President - Senior Debt
A top-performing private credit platform with a long-standing track record in the U.S. middle market is looking to add a Vice President to its Senior Debt team in New York.
The firm is a leading provider of flexible capital solutions to sponsor-backed businesses, with a focus on first lien and unitranche financings. The platform is known for its disciplined credit approach, strong sponsor relationships, and ability to lead transactions across market conditions.
This role offers the opportunity to take on significant responsibility across both underwriting and portfolio management, while working closely with senior investment professionals on a high volume of diverse transactions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead underwriting and execution of senior secured transactions, including first lien, unitranche, and select junior debt investments
- Evaluate opportunities across new investments, refinancings, and sponsor-led auctions, often in lead or co-lead capacity
- Structure and negotiate transactions, including key economic and legal terms
- Oversee diligence processes, financial modeling, and investment memos, while mentoring junior team members
- Actively manage and monitor a large, diversified portfolio of senior debt investments, maintaining ongoing dialogue with sponsors and portfolio companies
Qualifications:
- 6-8+ years of relevant experience in investment banking, direct lending, or structured credit, with a strong preference for sponsor-backed direct lending exposure
- Demonstrated experience leading or heavily contributing to live deal processes across multiple workstreams
- Strong technical skillset, including underwriting, structuring, and credit-focused financial modeling
- Proven ability to navigate complex processes, manage competing deadlines, and communicate clearly with senior stakeholders
- Experience negotiating documentation (e.g., commitment papers, credit agreements) and interfacing directly with sponsors
- Leadership mindset with the ability to mentor junior team members and drive execution
