About the Company

Our client is a well-established Property & Casualty insurer seeking a strategic actuarial leader to oversee the organization's actuarial function. This executive-level position will play a critical role in shaping business strategy, profitability, risk management, reinsurance planning, and long-term growth initiatives. The VP of Actuarial Services will partner closely with executive leadership and serve as a key advisor on pricing, reserving, catastrophe risk, and enterprise decision-making.

Position Summary

The Vice President of Actuarial Services will lead all actuarial operations, providing both strategic direction and technical oversight across pricing, reserving, predictive analytics, catastrophe modeling, and reinsurance. This individual will build and develop a high-performing actuarial team while helping guide the company's financial performance and future growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall actuarial strategy and vision for the organization.
  • Serve as the senior actuarial leader and trusted advisor to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Oversee pricing, reserving, predictive modeling, profitability analysis, and risk management initiatives.
  • Direct actuarial support for business planning, forecasting, and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Lead catastrophe exposure analysis and support the design and management of reinsurance programs.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, emerging trends, and market conditions to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Provide actuarial insight and recommendations to support critical business decisions.
  • Develop, mentor, and retain actuarial talent while fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Drive innovation through advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and actuarial standards of practice.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • FCAS designation strongly preferred.
  • Extensive Property & Casualty actuarial experience with progressive leadership responsibilities.
  • Deep expertise in pricing, reserving, catastrophe risk, reinsurance, and predictive analytics.
  • Demonstrated success leading actuarial teams and developing future leaders.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate complex actuarial concepts into actionable business strategies.
  • Excellent communication and executive presentation skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience within homeowners, personal lines, or broader Property & Casualty insurance markets.
  • Background supporting catastrophe-exposed portfolios and reinsurance purchasing strategies.
  • Experience working directly with executive leadership, boards of directors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Familiarity with advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and emerging actuarial technologies.
