Trading Operations Specialist
Role Overview:
A High Frequency Trading Firm is looking to bring on a Trading Operations Specialist to join their team, You'll provide support to a group of trading desks based in Chicago. You will be able to solve challenging problems while working closely with experienced traders, researchers and software engineers to optimize operational workflow and use the right tools and technology for the job.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a process owner for existing systems and recommend improvements to technology, workflows, and procedures.
- Develop a deep understanding of individual risk management tools used by traders and provide ongoing support.
- Upgrade and maintain trading tools to align with firm-wide technology standards.
- Collaborate with technology teams to enhance tools that do not meet desk requirements.
- Promote and integrate new technologies as they become available.
- Gain expertise in proprietary systems for trade capture, inventory, treasury, and risk management related to futures and options.
- Reconcile trades and positions with clearing houses, counterparties, and brokers.
- Calculate and validate daily profit and loss (P&L).
- Provide operational support for desks focused on agricultural options.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Python, Git, SQL, and Linux (preferred).
- Understanding of options theory and derivatives.
- Interest or experience in agricultural products.
- 2-3 years of experience in trading-related roles (front, middle, back office, or risk management) involving exchange-traded and OTC products.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience working directly with trading teams and senior management.
- Ability to work independently and solve problems effectively.
This role must sit out of the firm's Chicago office.
