Supervising Actuary
Overview
Our Client is looking for a strategic and analytical actuarial leader to guide a small team in delivering high-impact insights across pricing, reserving, and segmentation. This role blends technical expertise with leadership and cross-functional collaboration to shape data-driven decisions and ensure regulatory compliance.
This will be an onsite position located in the TX or CA area.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee a team of actuaries to mentor and evaluate performance. Drive team growth through coaching, goal setting, and career development.
Spearhead the creation and validation of actuarial data for pricing models, reserve analysis, and research. Collaborate with IT to ensure data integrity and usability.
Work closely with Product, Underwriting, Claims, Legal, Sales, and Regulatory teams to align actuarial insights with business goals and market strategy.
Conduct reserve reviews and recommend adjustments. Build forward-looking loss projections to support financial planning and budgeting.
Evaluate competitor pricing strategies and identify opportunities for competitive advantage. Recommend changes to rating plans based on findings.
Prepare and manage rate filings. Coordinate internal reviews and partner with Regulatory Affairs to ensure timely and successful approvals.
What You Bring
- Experience: 6-8 years in actuarial roles, with a strong foundation in pricing and reserving.
- Certification: Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS)
- Education: Bachelor's degree in related field
