Senior Consultant, Treasury Hedge Accounting
Selby Jennings is partnered with a leading financial services firm in Dallas that is looking to bring on a Senior Consultant, Hedge Accounting to serve as the SME for the bank's hedge accounting program. In this full-time role, you lead the development of the hedge accounting infrastructure. Responsibilities:
- Spearhead the design and rollout of the hedge accounting framework, including evaluating and selecting technology solutions or overseeing custom development.
- Act as the central coordinator across departments-finance, legal, compliance, data, IT, and treasury-to define requirements and build systems and processes that support hedge accounting.
- Formulate a hedge accounting strategy aligned with the organization's interest rate risk profile, available financial instruments, and balance sheet components.
- Create models and analytics to enhance the financial impact of hedge accounting decisions in line with broader asset-liability management goals.
- Apply hedge accounting treatments to derivatives transactions on a recurring basis, monitor effectiveness, and recommend adjustments as needed.
- Work closely with treasury teams on matters such as funding, liquidity, interest rate risk, forecasting, and valuation.
- Continue to serve as the go-to resource for all hedge accounting-related topics within the organization.
- Support internal controls, respond to audit and regulatory inquiries, and ensure documentation meets compliance standards.
- Identify and implement enhancements to existing processes and systems.
- Provide analytical insights and reporting as requested by leadership.
- As the program grows, take on management responsibilities, mentoring team members and driving strategic objectives forward.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
- Strong grasp of valuation techniques for financial instruments used in risk mitigation strategies.
- Deep familiarity with how balance sheet and income statement dynamics interact with asset-liability management, including knowledge of interest rate derivatives and associated risk metrics.
- Expertise in financial reporting standards related to hedge accounting.
- Ability to apply advanced hedge accounting concepts within a complex business framework.
- Proficiency in building, interpreting, and troubleshooting financial models.
- Comfortable working across departments such as finance, technology, and operations to achieve shared goals.
- Familiarity with specialized financial systems or platforms used in treasury and risk management.
- Advanced credentials such as CPA, CFA, or a graduate degree in a quantitative or financial field.
