Risk Engineer
A leading quantitative investment firm is seeking a skilled technologist to join its Risk Management team in New York. This team builds and maintains Python-based systems that underpin the firm's risk infrastructure, supporting portfolio managers and traders across global markets. The role is critical to developing robust, scalable tools that ensure accurate risk assessment and seamless integration with trading operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong Python expertise and a passion for clean, maintainable code. You will work in a collaborative environment, partnering with risk managers, engineers, and investment teams to deliver high-quality solutions while gaining exposure to advanced risk models and quantitative strategies.
Responsibilities
- Enhance and maintain the firm's in-house Python risk management library.
- Design and implement new features to improve performance and functionality.
- Collaborate with risk managers and technologists to translate requirements into software solutions.
- Contribute to best practices in testing, version control, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Learn and apply concepts in portfolio risk modeling and optimization.
Qualifications
- 2-5 years of professional experience in software engineering.
- Strong Python programming skills with attention to code quality.
- Solid problem-solving and debugging abilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Self-motivated and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- Familiarity with risk models (e.g., Barra, Axioma) or financial markets.
- Experience with Linux-based systems and cloud environments.
