Enrolled Actuary - Large Group
Position Summary
This role focuses on supporting the large‑plan retirement market. The candidate will review client deliverables for accuracy and regulatory compliance while managing a personal caseload of complex large‑market defined benefit plans. Responsibilities include completing valuation, administration, and compliance tasks, as well as reviewing and signing a significant volume of work prepared by other team members. The position requires consistently upholding established service standards and organizational expectations. The individual will serve as a subject‑matter expert in large‑market Defined Benefit, Cash Balance, and combination DB/DC plan consulting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Review, prepare, and/or certify client projects to ensure accurate deliverables, including:
- Actuarial valuations and reports for large‑market plans
- Participant‑level and plan‑level benefit statements
- Plan documents, amendments, and employee communications (e.g., SPDs)
- Work performed by other operational teams (e.g., complex benefit calculations, Form 5500 schedules, PBGC premium filings)
- IRS determination filings and PBGC plan‑termination submissions
- ASC 715/960 financial reporting work
- Combined plan non‑discrimination testing for large, diverse populations
Additional responsibilities include:
- Respond to technical questions from internal staff and client teams
- Research relevant Internal Revenue Code provisions and related technical resources to resolve complex client issues
- Provide technical training and mentorship to colleagues
- Provide backup support to other teams as needed
- Maintain the security and confidentiality of all sensitive data in alignment with organizational standards
- Demonstrate the organization's core values and client‑focused service philosophy in all professional interactions
- Complete additional tasks and projects as assigned

Experience, Skills, and Knowledge Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or a related discipline
- Enrolled Actuary (EA) designation with at least 5 years of relevant industry experience
- Advanced understanding of:
- Pension law
- Plan documents and IRS determination processes
- Actuarial valuation concepts and software tools for large‑market plans
- Strong technical and analytical skills
- Ability to research and interpret complex technical issues
- Ability to clearly explain technical concepts to colleagues at all levels
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Expertise in widely used pension valuation systems
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong time‑management capabilities
- Collaborative, team‑oriented mindset
