Founding Insurance Executive - Specialty MGA Launch (U.S.)
We are retained by a capital‑backed insurance group seeking a senior specialty insurance executive to launch and scale a new U.S. specialty MGA.
This role is intended for a seasoned underwriting leader with the capability to create an MGA business from the ground up - spanning product design, underwriting governance, capacity strategy, and organizational build‑out. The individual will assume full leadership of the venture, with long‑term equity participation and responsibility for commercial outcomes.
Role Scope
- Establish a new specialty insurance MGA and operating model in the U.S.
- Design underwriting frameworks, product architecture, and risk appetite
- Lead discussions with carriers and reinsurers to secure and structure capacity
- Build internal underwriting, operations, and support functions
- Own business planning, P&L performance, and growth strategy
- Develop a scalable platform with durable underwriting discipline
This is a platform‑build role, not a producer carve‑out or standalone sales arrangement. The mandate is to create a long‑term specialty business within a collaborative, well‑resourced insurance organization.
Experience Profile
- 15+ years in specialty insurance underwriting, portfolio management, or practice leadership
- Experience founding, launching, or materially scaling an MGA, delegated authority platform, or specialty insurance operation
- Deep relationships with insurance carriers, reinsurers, and senior retail brokers
- Demonstrated success building underwriting teams and specialty product offerings
- Proven ability to manage full profit and loss accountability
- Entrepreneurial orientation with interest in ownership and enterprise value creation
Compensation & Alignment
- Significant equity participation tied to business performance
- Flexible compensation structure appropriate for a start‑up phase
- Institutional backing including infrastructure, capital, and strategic support
- Long‑term partnership focus rather than short‑term sponsorship
This opportunity is focused on specialty and niche commercial insurance. Consumer‑focused or commoditized personal lines businesses are not under consideration.
