Job Title: Commercial Lines Underwriter

Salary: $90,000 - $115,000
Overview:
Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Commercial Lines Underwriter to join their team. This role is responsible for evaluating and underwriting commercial insurance risks to ensure profitable growth and retention of business. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of commercial insurance products, and the ability to build strong relationships with agency partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze new and renewal commercial lines applications to determine risk acceptability, pricing, and coverage terms in accordance with underwriting guidelines.
- Collaborate with agents and brokers to gather necessary information and provide guidance on underwriting decisions.
- Develop and maintain strong agency relationships to support business growth and retention goals.
- Make sound underwriting decisions within assigned authority and refer cases exceeding authority as appropriate.
- Monitor portfolio performance and contribute to the development of underwriting strategies and guidelines.
- Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions affecting commercial insurance.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance underwriting knowledge and skills.
- Support team initiatives and contribute to process improvements and special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in commercial lines underwriting, preferably with property and casualty products.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong knowledge of underwriting principles, insurance products, and risk assessment.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Proficiency in underwriting systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Professional designations such as CPCU, AU, or CIC are a plus.
