About the Company

The company operates multiple base‑metal mining assets across Africa, with operations in Senegal, Guinea, Sudan, and Morocco. The base‑metals division is expanding rapidly. This role sits at the heart of a dynamic and fast‑growing commercial environment.


Role Overview

The Commercial Manager will support the full commercial lifecycle of base‑metal shipments (e.g., copper, zinc, lead, nickel concentrates). The role acts as the main interface between production sites, clients, logistics teams, and market intelligence functions. You will ensure compliance with contractual terms, coordinate shipment execution, manage commercial relationships, and contribute to the division's growth and commercial strategy.

This is a highly interactive front‑office commercial role requiring strong commercial awareness, operational coordination, and strategic mindset.


Key Responsibilities

1. Commercial & Client Management

  • Serve as the primary commercial point of contact between the company, producers, and international clients.
  • Maintain strong communication with mining partners in Morocco, Guinea, and Sudan.
  • Develop and expand the client base for base‑metal concentrates.
  • Manage monthly shipment planning and coordinate with logistics/traffic teams.
  • Ensure delivery aligns with contract terms, assays, and quality specifications.

2. Internal Coordination & Production Follow-Up

  • Collaborate with internal management teams responsible for production.
  • Track production forecasts and align them with sales contracts.
  • Maintain production, shipment, and contract‑execution dashboards.
  • Improve internal processes across commercial and logistics functions.

3. Market Intelligence

  • Conduct ongoing market research on global base‑metals markets (LME trends, supply/demand, TC/RCs, geopolitical risks).
  • Prepare insights on commercial opportunities and risks.
  • Represent the company at global base‑metals events, conferences, and industry forums.

4. Claim & Issue Management

  • Manage claims related to quality, quantity, assays, or logistics discrepancies.
  • Work with producers to define corrective action plans and ensure timely resolution.
  • Maintain clear communication with clients throughout the process.

5. Strategy & Business Development

  • Define and implement new commercial and sales strategies.
  • Secure new clients and new long‑term offtake partnerships.
  • Implement innovative commercial structures, including:
    • Pre‑payment agreements
    • Offtake agreements tied to financing
    • Other advanced commercial mechanisms used in base‑metals trading
  • Bring fresh ideas and added value to the team.

6. Compliance, KYC & Due Diligence

  • Apply strict KYC, AML, and compliance standards specific to metals trading.
  • Conduct due diligence on producers and clients.
  • Ensure alignment with international responsible‑sourcing and transparency requirements.

Profile & Requirements

  • French-speaking (mandatory).
  • Strong front‑office commercial experience, ideally within commodities, base metals, mining, or trading.
  • Understanding of international logistics and concentrate shipment processes.
  • Ability to work with teams across several African jurisdictions.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Knowledge of base‑metals markets is an advantage.
  • Comfortable in a high‑growth, fast‑moving environment.
