Position Summary:
The Associate Actuary will play a key role in the development, maintenance, and enhancement of actuarial valuation models and data platforms used to support financial reporting for life insurance products. This position is central to ensuring accurate reserve calculations, regulatory compliance, and the successful execution of strategic initiatives. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams including Finance, Product Development, Risk, and IT, and reports to the Director of Actuarial Valuation.
Key Responsibilities:
Valuation Model Development & Data Platform Enhancements (50%)
Lead the design, testing, and implementation of actuarial valuation models. Drive improvements to the actuarial data platform to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.Operational Support & Process Optimization (10%)
Maintain and streamline valuation processes. Provide production support for financial reporting, regulatory filings, and audit responses.Change Management & Innovation (10%)
Oversee the lifecycle of actuarial change initiatives, from planning through implementation. Integrate new technologies and methodologies to improve model performance and governance.Model Governance & Compliance (10%)
Manage model deployment and ensure adherence to internal governance frameworks and regulatory standards.Strategic & Regulatory Projects (10%)
Contribute to enterprise-wide initiatives by researching, designing, and executing actuarial components of strategic and regulatory projects.Team Development & Knowledge Sharing (10%)
Mentor junior team members and lead training sessions, particularly in actuarial modeling tools such as PolySystems.
Work Environment:
Hybrid work model with an expectation of three in-office days per week (currently Tuesday through Thursday). Flexibility is provided based on team needs and manager discretion.
Qualifications:
- Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) with a minimum of 7 years of actuarial experience in the life insurance industry.
- Strong background in actuarial valuation or modeling, with at least 5 years of hands-on experience.
- Proficiency in actuarial software such as PolySystems, MG-ALFA, or GGY-AXIS.
- Skilled in data tools such as SQL, Databricks, and Microsoft Access.
- Deep understanding of valuation methodologies, regulatory requirements, and financial reporting standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a continuous improvement mindset.

- Experience with actuarial governance frameworks and model risk management.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to cross-functional teamwork.
