Assistant Controller

The company designs and produces specialized engineered products used in demanding operating environments where quality, reliability, and performance are essential. As the business continues to grow, it is investing in its finance infrastructure, reporting capabilities, and operational processes to support long-term expansion.
Position Overview
The Assistant Controller will report directly to the VP of Finance and serve as a key partner across accounting, financial reporting, FP&A, and operational finance. This is a highly visible role with significant interaction across leadership, operations, engineering, supply chain, and other functional teams.
This opportunity extends well beyond traditional accounting responsibilities. The individual will help lead month-end close activities, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, KPI reporting, financial analysis, internal controls, and process improvement initiatives. The role will also support audit activities and help strengthen the company's readiness for future reporting and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Prepare and review financial statements and management reports
- Develop and enhance executive reporting, dashboards, and KPI packages
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling
- Partner with operations and business leaders to improve performance and profitability
- Support inventory, cost accounting, and manufacturing finance activities
- Strengthen internal controls and accounting processes
- Assist with audits, technical accounting matters, and finance transformation initiatives
- Support ERP, reporting, and process improvement projects
- Provide leadership and guidance within the accounting function
Preferred Background
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, month-end close, audits, and internal controls
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Manufacturing, industrial, engineered products, aerospace/defense, or cost accounting experience preferred
- CPA, CMA, public accounting, SOX, SEC reporting, or technical accounting exposure is a plus
- Strong ERP and Excel skills
