Accounting Manager - Healthcare Insurance Services Platform
A growing healthcare insurance services platform is seeking an Accounting Manager to support day‑to‑day accounting operations across a multi‑entity environment. The organization provides underwriting support, regulatory expertise, distribution operations, and product development within employer‑sponsored benefits and alternative funding strategies. Its integrated structure supports level‑funded, self‑funded, and captive arrangements across multiple subsidiaries. This is a remote position, preferrably on EST.
Position Overview
The Accounting Manager will oversee core accounting functions including general ledger activity, month‑end close, cash monitoring, accruals, prepaids, and other complex accounting areas. Reporting to the Director of Financial Operations, this role is responsible for accurate and timely financial reporting and for supporting the continued growth and scalability of the accounting function.
Responsibilities
- Manage month‑end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, revenue entries, and variance analysis.
- Maintain schedules for sales commissions, partner commissions, ASC 606 revenue, and other technical accounting areas.
- Monitor daily and weekly cash activity for accuracy in cash flow reporting.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure adherence to GAAP and internal control standards.
- Support financial reporting for assigned entities.
- Partner with the Director of Financial Operations and accounts receivable staff on billing, collections, and account reconciliations.
- Assist in preparing internal reporting packages for leadership review.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to streamline workflows and enhance reporting accuracy.
- Prepare schedules and documentation for internal and external audits.
- Support requirements for annual tax filings.
- Collaborate with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, and reporting needs.
- Stay informed on industry trends in healthcare benefits, alternative funding, and accounting standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field; advanced degree or CPA preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a multi‑entity or high‑growth organization.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and ASC 606.
- Experience with accruals, prepaids, cash management, and complex accounting processes.
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and organizational abilities.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, Concur, RightRev, or Prophix is a plus.
- Advanced Excel proficiency and strong capability with financial systems.
