Accounting Manager - Consumer Warranty

A leading and rapidly growing insurance company is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager with strong insurance experience to support its consumer warranty division. This role is key to ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence in an insurance environment.

Location: Dallas-Fort Worth area (hybrid, 1-2 days per week in office)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee accounting and financial reporting for a consumer warranty/insurance portfolio, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and insurance regulations
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including complex journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis
  • Manage carrier and third-party reporting requirements
  • Ensure accurate accounting for premiums, claims, bordereaux, and insurer settlements
  • Oversee cash management, trust accounts, and insurer reconciliation processes
  • Deliver variance analysis and financial insights against budget and forecasts
  • Partner closely with actuarial and underwriting teams to assess reserves and loss trends
  • Maintain strong internal controls, including compliance with ASC 606 and regulatory requirements
  • Support internal/external audits and regulatory reporting
  • Drive process improvements, system enhancements, and operational efficiencies
  • Lead, mentor, and develop an accounting team
  • Support strategic initiatives and senior leadership with ad hoc analysis

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
  • 5+ years of accounting experience within an insurance company (required)
  • Strong knowledge of insurance accounting (premiums, claims, reserves, trust accounting)
  • Proven experience managing or developing accounting staff
  • Solid US GAAP and full-cycle accounting expertise
  • Advanced reconciliation and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience within warranty, MGA, TPA, or insurance carrier environments
  • Exposure to actuarial collaboration and reserve methodologies
  • Familiarity with financial systems and reconciliation tools
