Selby Jennings is partnered with a renowned prop trading firm, specifically looking to fill a software engineer position on their Core Development, Middle/Back Office Technology team. They are looking for an individual with 3+ years of experience in the financial domain, ideally with exposure to middle/back office support (risk, clearing, settlements, etc.) with notable career progression. This position is open to both their New York City office and Chicago office.

Role Description:

  • Design, build, and test critical infrastructure for risk and clearing systems, post-trade automation, and vendor data platforms
  • Support complex business pipelines across middle and back office functions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for a comprehensive view of trading operations
  • Capture business requirements and implement effective technical solutions
  • Maintain and enhance systems that support inter-departmental workflows

Skills Needed:

  • 3+ years of development experience in Python, Java, or C++
  • Experience with middle and back office functions (risk, clearing, locates, settlements)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid understanding of data architecture, software design, and best coding practices
  • Proficiency with SQL databases and messaging solutions like Kafka
  • High attention to detail and ability to work closely with business stakeholders
  • Proven track record as an independent contributor within a team
