Job Title: Principal Actuary (Health & Business Development)

Location: Flexible within the United States, with a preference for candidates in major metropolitan areas.

Overview: A leading global consulting firm is seeking a dynamic and experienced Principal to drive business development within its Health Actuarial practice. This confidential role offers a unique opportunity to lead client engagements, expand market presence, and contribute to the firm's growth strategy in the healthcare sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health actuarial consulting, strategic leadership, and client relationship management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead business development efforts to expand the firm's health actuarial consulting services.

  • Identify and pursue new client opportunities, focusing on payers, providers, and other healthcare entities.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives, providing strategic insights and actionable recommendations.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver tailored, high-impact consulting solutions.

  • Mentor and develop junior staff, fostering a culture of growth and excellence.

  • Drive thought leadership by contributing to industry research, presentations, and publications.

Types of Projects and Work: As a Principal, you will oversee and contribute to a variety of strategic projects, including:

  • Market Analysis and Expansion: Provide guidance to clients exploring new market opportunities, offering in-depth financial analysis and risk evaluation to support expansion decisions.

  • Pricing Strategy and Product Development: Lead the development of pricing models and go-to-market strategies for healthcare products, ensuring financial sustainability and market competitiveness.

  • Operational and Financial Performance Review: Conduct detailed reviews of clients' financial performance to uncover insights, identify risks, and recommend data-driven solutions.

  • Competitive Positioning: Analyze market trends and competitor data to guide clients in enhancing product positioning and capturing market share.

  • Collaborative Strategy Development: Work closely with leadership across the consulting firm to integrate actuarial insights into broader healthcare strategies, including M&A and operational transformations.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in health actuarial consulting with a demonstrated focus on business development.

  • Proven success in managing executive-level client relationships and delivering high-impact consulting solutions.

  • Strong understanding of the healthcare ecosystem, including payers, providers, and regulatory frameworks.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries (FSA) or equivalent designation preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
