About the Opportunity

A rapidly growing fintech organization is transforming the retirement industry through innovative technology and financial solutions designed to increase access to long-term wealth building. Founded by leaders from prominent financial services and technology companies, the firm is backed by venture capital investors and is building a modern platform that reimagines how retirement plans are designed, administered, and experienced.

They are seeking a Lead Retirement Plan Specialist to serve as a senior operational expert, trusted advisor to plan sponsors, and key contributor to retirement plan strategy and administration. This individual will play a critical role in consulting on plan design, ensuring ERISA compliance, supporting plan operations, and helping shape the future of a technology-driven retirement platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise plan sponsors on retirement plan design, including eligibility provisions, vesting schedules, safe harbor elections, employer match formulas, profit-sharing arrangements, and cross-tested plan structures.
  • Guide new retirement plan implementations, translating client objectives into plan document elections and ensuring a smooth transition into ongoing administration.
  • Support annual compliance and regulatory requirements, including ADP/ACP testing, 410(b) testing, 415 limits, top-heavy testing, coverage testing, Form 5500 filings, and distribution-related reporting.
  • Manage plan corrections and operational compliance issues, including failed testing, missed deferrals, eligibility errors, and employer contribution discrepancies.
  • Interpret and apply regulatory developments, including SECURE 2.0 provisions, long-term part-time employee requirements, hardship distribution rules, and QACA plan design considerations.
  • Partner with internal product and technology teams to identify automation opportunities and improve retirement plan workflows.
  • Communicate complex retirement plan concepts clearly to clients, auditors, and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of retirement plan administration, ERISA compliance, or retirement consulting experience within a TPA, recordkeeping, retirement advisory, or retirement services environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing year-end compliance processes and retirement plan operational activities.
  • Strong working knowledge of retirement plan testing, corrections, plan document administration, and ERISA regulations.
  • Professional designations such as QKA, QPA, CPC, ERPA, or similar credentials are highly preferred.
  • Ability to work directly with plan sponsors, HR professionals, and business owners in a consultative capacity.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex regulatory and compliance concepts in a practical manner.
  • Desire to contribute to a growing organization where processes, products, and client experience are actively evolving.
