Head of RFP
Overview:
A leading global investment management organization is seeking a senior professional to oversee its Request for Proposal (RFP) function across LA and London. The firm manages a diversified suite of investment strategies-including fixed income, equities, and multi‑asset portfolios-for a broad international client base.
Role Purpose:
The Head of RFP will direct a distributed team responsible for producing high‑quality responses to RFPs, DDQs, and other due diligence driven client requests. This leader will partner closely with investment, client service, and compliance teams to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of all deliverables. The role is central to advancing new business efforts, strengthening existing client relationships, and supporting firm wide due diligence activity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the global RFP function, with team members based in multiple offices, ensuring seamless coordination and high standards of quality.
- Oversee the full RFP and DDQ workflow-from intake to submission-ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to deadlines.
- Recruit, mentor, and manage a team of RFP specialists; establish clear expectations and promote professional development.
- Prioritize requests effectively, manage capacity, and escalate risks or bottlenecks where needed.
- Collaborate with investment, legal, compliance, and client‑facing teams to source and verify information for proposals.
- Communicate the firm's investment approach, philosophy, and perspectives to internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Enhance operational efficiency by improving processes, upgrading templates, standardizing content, and strengthening knowledge‑management systems.
- Lead initiatives focused on technology adoption-including proposal software and workflow automation-to streamline production.
- Drive improvements in reporting, data access, and RFP content governance.
- Serve as a strategic partner to distribution leadership by identifying gaps, improving processes, and reinforcing best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum of 12 years of RFP or proposal management experience within the asset‑management industry, including oversight of teams across multiple locations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, balance competing deadlines, and work with diverse internal stakeholders.
- Strong writing and editorial skills; experience shaping or reviewing RFP content is preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical capabilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort working with new technologies; familiarity with RFP platforms (e.g., Qvidian) is beneficial.
- Background in investment management required.
