Fraud Strategy Manager
I'm working on with a well-established analytics consulting firm looking for a Fraud Strategy Manager to help drive fraud loss reduction initiatives across areas such as card fraud, account takeover, synthetic identity, and transaction monitoring. The role is focused on designing and optimizing fraud strategies across both card-present and card-not-present environments, analyzing emerging fraud trends, conducting root-cause investigations, and balancing fraud losses, customer experience, and approval rates.
Ideal candidates come from payments, fintech, card issuers, merchant acquiring, trust & safety, or fraud strategy teams and are looking for a client-facing role with a mix of fraud strategy, analytics, and consulting leadership.
This role can sit out of New York or California.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize fraud strategies across card-present (CP) and card-not-present (CNP) transactions.
- Lead initiatives focused on account takeover, synthetic identity fraud, first-party fraud, application fraud, and transaction monitoring.
- Develop and refine rules-based and score-based fraud controls to balance fraud losses, customer experience, and approval rates.
- Analyze fraud trends, investigate emerging attack patterns, and identify opportunities for risk mitigation.
- Conduct root cause analysis on fraud spikes, operational issues, and vendor performance challenges.
- Present insights and recommendations to senior business stakeholders and client leadership teams.
- Drive project execution, manage timelines, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by providing strategic guidance on fraud risk management and analytics initiatives.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in fraud strategy, fraud risk, or fraud analytics within payments, merchant processing, banking, fintech, or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of the U.S. payments fraud landscape, including transaction fraud, account takeover, identity fraud, and emerging fraud trends.
- Experience developing onboarding, authentication, and transaction monitoring strategies.
- Ability to use data and analytics to drive business decisions and fraud loss reduction initiatives.
- Familiarity with Hive, PySpark, SQL, Python, ML tools and tableau / other data visualization techniques
- Experience in SMB, marketplace, merchant, buyer, or seller risk is preferred
