Financial Reporting Manager - CPA

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid)

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead daily accounting operations, including AP, cash receipts, general ledger, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and cash management
  • Manage the monthly and quarterly close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Oversee vendor accruals and expense recognition in accordance with accounting policies
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records
  • Prepare financial reports, non-GAAP schedules, and ad hoc analyses for management
  • Conduct variance and flux analyses to explain financial results
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, SOX requirements, and internal control standards
  • Coordinate external audits and maintain audit-ready documentation
  • Develop and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and ERP system controls
  • Partner with Finance IT to improve reporting capabilities and system efficiencies
  • Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen controls and streamline operations
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff to drive accuracy, accountability, and growth

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the state of Illinois
  • 6+ years of experience in accounting, public accounting or corporate accounting
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience managing or reviewing accounting close processes, journal entries, and reconciliations
  • Experience working with ERP systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to prioritize, multitask and think critically in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
