Equity Algo Quant Researcher
A Tier 1 Bank in London is seeking a VP‑level Equity Algo Quant Researcher to join its front‑office electronic trading quantitative research team. This role focuses on developing and enhancing execution algorithms, routing logic and data‑driven models that support the bank's EMEA equities electronic trading platform. You'll work in a highly technical, research‑driven environment with substantial exposure to trading, technology and market‑microstructure challenges.
Responsibilities
- Research, design and optimise execution algorithms for EMEA cash‑equity markets.
- Develop predictive signals for liquidity, volume forecasting and order‑placement logic.
- Conduct microstructure analysis and evaluate performance through A/B testing and post‑trade analytics.
- Build dashboards and monitoring tools to track key algo behaviours and routing performance.
- Collaborate with trading and technology teams to deploy enhancements and validate new model features.
- Maintain high‑quality model documentation and support calibration and data‑quality processes.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in mathematics, physics, computer science, statistics, operations research or quantitative finance.
- Strong knowledge of statistics, econometrics and machine‑learning techniques.
- Proficiency in Python for research, automation and analytics.
- Experience with q/kdb+ for analysing large market‑data sets (strongly preferred; training available).
- Familiarity with C++ or Java (reading and navigating the codebase is sufficient).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in algorithmic trading, electronic trading research or equities market microstructure.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail and ability to communicate technical findings effectively.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment with high research and data‑quality standards.
