About the Role:
We are seeking an energetic and entrepreneurial Broker Relationship Director to join our growing insurtech team. This leader will own the development of broker partnerships, expand distribution opportunities, and build a strong new business pipeline across commercial lines. This is a hands on role for someone who is excited to roll up their sleeves, make outbound calls, build relationships from scratch, and lead a team toward ambitious growth goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Broker and Distribution Strategy
* Develop and implement a national broker engagement strategy focused on commercial lines
* Build a scalable pipeline of new broker partners using proactive outreach including cold calling, targeted campaigns, and event engagement
* Evaluate broker performance and identify opportunities for deeper collaboration
* Represent the company at industry conferences and regional events to expand brand awareness and build relationships
Sales Leadership and Execution:
* Guide, coach, and manage a small but growing team of relationship managers or business development professionals
* Partner with underwriting, product, operations, and marketing teams to support distribution success
* Track pipeline metrics and take action to ensure goals are met or exceeded
* Provide consistent market feedback to leadership to influence product and underwriting strategy
Broker Enablement and Support:
* Support brokers through onboarding, training, and ongoing engagement
* Assist with complex commercial lines submissions and collaborate with underwriting teams
* Ensure brokers understand product capabilities, appetite, and competitive advantages
Required Experience:
* Proven experience in commercial lines insurance within carriers, MGAs, or insurtech organizations
* Strong understanding of commercial underwriting basics and distribution dynamics
* Ability to build relationships quickly and credibly with brokers and industry partners
* Comfort with outbound outreach including cold calling and unstructured relationship building
* Prior leadership experience or strong interest in leading and developing a team
* Surplus lines license or willingness to obtain upon hire
Preferred Skills:
* Experience in high growth or early stage environments
* Ability to operate independently and navigate ambiguity
* Strong communication and presentation skills
* A collaborative approach with a willingness to get hands dirty when needed
Travel:
Travel is flexible but expected for conferences, partner meetings, and key industry events.
