About the Role:
We're looking for a driven and experienced Assistant Director to join our Finance team, specializing in reinsurance accounting within the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance sector. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy, transparency, and strategic alignment of our reinsurance financials, supporting both treaty and facultative arrangements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the accounting and financial reporting for P&C reinsurance programs, including ceded and assumed reinsurance.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and GAAP accounting standards, as well as regulatory requirements specific to P&C insurance.
- Partner with actuarial, claims, and underwriting teams to support reinsurance strategy and execution.
- Manage reinsurance recoverables, cash settlements, and reconciliation processes.
- Oversee the preparation of Schedule F and other regulatory filings.
- Support audits and internal controls related to reinsurance transactions.
- Mentor and develop a team of reinsurance accountants and analysts.
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in P&C insurance, with a strong focus on reinsurance accounting.
- Deep understanding of reinsurance structures, including quota share, excess of loss, and facultative arrangements.
- Familiarity with NAIC statutory reporting and Schedule F.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience with financial systems and reinsurance platforms (e.g., SAP, PeopleSoft, or custom reinsurance systems).
