Tax Specialist
We are seeking a Tax Specialist to join a dynamic investment management firm. This role reports to the Tax Senior and involves working closely with team members and tax return preparers to ensure accurate and timely delivery of all tax-related deliverables for complex fund structures, including both onshore and offshore master-feeder funds.
Responsibilities
- Prepare computations of partnership taxable income, book and tax allocations, tax estimates, Schedule K-1s, and tax returns.
- Complete various tax forms (e.g., 926, 8621, 8858, 8865, 8886, 5471, W-8) and other required filings.
- Perform ASC 740 Uncertain Tax Position analyses.
- Prepare monthly NRA Withholding Statements.
- Support month-end close processes and produce reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Analyze and identify book-to-tax differences (e.g., wash sales, PFICs, bond bifurcation, discount/premium accretion/amortization).
- Document tax and accounting policies and procedures.
- Assess and improve reporting processes and systems; collaborate with technical resources to enhance workflows.
- Conduct research, implement operational improvements, and assist with ad hoc analysis and special projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA or MST (or working toward) preferred.
- 3-5 years of financial services experience, ideally with exposure to taxation of financial products and investment funds.
- Knowledge of fixed income securities, derivatives, and complex financial instruments.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel; familiarity with systems such as Total Return (SS&C GlobeOp), Brightline, K1x, Alteryx, and Workday is a plus.
