System Engineer

Job Title: Systems Engineer

Location: Chicago, IL, 5 days per week onsite

Overview:

A global firm is seeking a Systems Engineer to manage and enhance its hybrid infrastructure. This role involves supporting compute, storage, and networking systems across on-prem and cloud environments, with a strong focus on automation and reliability. Additionally, you'll work directly with Portfolio managers providing day to day support for their technology needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage global infrastructure on premise and in cloud compute, storage and network environments.
• Automate routine tasks and build self-service tools
• Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize systems
• Lead infrastructure deployments and maintenance to ensure reliable and resilient systems.

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelors Degree in computer science or equivalent
• 2-5 years of infrastructure management experience
• Strong scripting (PowerShell/Python)
• Expertise managing and supporting Kubernetes environments.
• Proficient in Linux/Windows, virtualization (VMware/AHV), and networking
• Cloud experience (preferably AWS)
• Familiarity with IaC tools (Terraform/CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong documentation and communication skills

Nice to Have:

• Certifications (Linux, Windows, AWS, Kubernetes)
• Experience with Citrix and enterprise storage solutions
