Overview
A growing investment management firm based in Charlotte is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its finance and accounting team. This role will play a key part in fund and management company accounting, supporting monthly close, financial reporting, and audit processes while partnering closely with internal stakeholders and external service providers.
The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in investment or fund accounting, is comfortable operating in a fast‑paced environment, and is eager to take on increased responsibility as the firm continues to scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support the monthly and quarterly close process for funds and related management entities
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Assist with NAV calculations, performance reporting, and review of fund activity
- Support investor reporting, including capital calls, distributions, and financial statements
- Coordinate with third‑party fund administrators, auditors, and tax providers to ensure timely and accurate deliverables
- Assist in the preparation of GAAP financial statements and audit materials
- Maintain and enhance internal controls and accounting policies
- Analyze fund activity, expense allocations, and variances, providing clear explanations to management
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and reporting efficiency
- Support ad hoc projects related to new funds, transactions, or operational initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 8-10+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within investment management, fund accounting, asset management, or public accounting with financial services clients
- Strong understanding of GAAP; experience with investment vehicles (private equity, private credit, real estate, hedge funds, or similar) strongly preferred
- Experience working with fund administrators and external auditors
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with fund accounting or portfolio systems a plus
- CPA required or strongly preferred
- Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in a growing organization
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
