Senior Underwriter

Our client is a well-established insurance carrier with a strong presence in the commercial lines space. Known for its commitment to underwriting excellence and client service, the company is expanding its Southern California team and seeking a seasoned P&C underwriter to help drive profitable growth and strategic portfolio management.

Position Overview

As a Senior Underwriter, you will be responsible for evaluating, selecting, and pricing complex commercial P&C risks. You'll work closely with brokers and internal stakeholders to develop tailored solutions that align with underwriting guidelines and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal business across various P&C lines (e.g., General Liability, Property, Commercial Auto, Umbrella).
• Analyze risk exposures, loss history, and financials to determine appropriate coverage and pricing.
• Maintain strong broker relationships and support business development efforts.
• Collaborate with actuarial, claims, and risk control teams to ensure holistic risk assessment.
• Monitor portfolio performance and contribute to strategic underwriting initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal underwriting standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5-7 years of commercial P&C underwriting experience.
• Strong knowledge of underwriting principles, risk assessment, and market dynamics.
• Proven ability to manage complex accounts and negotiate with brokers.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field (CPCU or ARM designation a plus).
• Familiarity with Southern California market preferred.
