Senior Tax Manager
Selby Jennings is working with a highly respected private investment firm in Fort Worth to find their next senior tax leader. Originally launched as a hedge fund, the firm has grown into a full-fledged family office with investments spanning aviation, real estate, investment banking, and asset management. They're seeking a driven and experienced Tax Manager to join their internal team. The position offers strong visibility, ownership, and a clear path to advance into senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Support tax initiatives related to operating businesses and internal entities, including management and service companies.
- Assist in developing and communicating tax estimates to senior leadership.
- Collaborate with internal tax leadership, external CPAs, and legal advisors to address complex compliance matters.
- Contribute to resolving advanced tax issues such as accounting method changes, income sourcing, international tax, and complex allocations.
- Prepare detailed tax workpapers, including taxable income calculations and allocations across a multi-entity structure.
- Analyze financial data to identify tax planning opportunities and support strategic initiatives.
- Assist in preparing federal tax filings for various entity types including partnerships, corporations, trusts, and tax-exempt organizations, with exposure to international reporting requirements.
- Develop procedures to analyze securities transactions for tax implications including straddles, wash sales, and constructive sales.
- Prepare and review reports related to realized and unrealized gains/losses, qualified dividends, and other investment-related tax metrics.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's in Accounting, Taxation or related area
- 5 years or more of Federal Tax Consulting or Federal Tax Compliance experience working for a hedge fund, private equity fund, family office or Big 4/large regional public accounting firm, or as a corporate tax manager.
- Strong spreadsheet skills
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, local, and basic international tax laws and regulations
- CPA preferred
