Private Investment Senior Associate, Portfolio Strategy

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our client's investment team in a Restructuring role. This individual will play a key role in managing and maximizing value across distressed and underperforming portfolio companies, both as an equity owner and creditor. The ideal candidate will bring several years of relevant restructuring or distressed investing experience, a strong command of financial modeling and analysis, and the ability to engage directly with management teams, boards, and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Analysis & Modeling
    • Evaluate, sensitize, and build complex financial models to assess portfolio company performance, liquidity, and capital structure scenarios
    • Conduct detailed operational and financial due diligence and cash flow forecasting
    • Perform valuation and recovery analysis
  • Portfolio Oversight & Engagement
    • Interface directly with portfolio company management teams to develop and execute turnaround strategies
    • Participate in and/or lead board-level discussions at portfolio companies
    • Support or lead the development of comprehensive business plans and restructuring roadmaps
  • Capital Structure & Legal Process Management
    • Analyze capital structures, creditor rights, and intercreditor issues
    • Participate in the negotiation and documentation of restructuring agreements, amendments, and other legal documentation in coordination with internal counsel and external advisors
  • Internal & Investment Committee Reporting
    • Prepare high-quality internal investment memos and board presentations summarizing portfolio company developments and recommended actions
    • Support and present to the investment committee on restructuring strategies and recovery outlook

Qualifications

  • 4 - 8 years of restructuring, distressed investing, or turnaround experience at a top-tier investment firm, restructuring advisory firm, or relevant investment bank
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • CPA and/or CFA designation is a plus
  • Confident communicator with the ability to present to senior stakeholders
  • Critical thinker with sound judgment and strong problem-solving skills
  • Highly organized and self-directed; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Team-oriented, with strong interpersonal skills
