Portfolio Manager - HFT Index Options Market Making
A leading proprietary trading firm is seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager to lead and scale its High-Frequency Trading (HFT) Index Options Market Making business in India. This is an opportunity to take ownership of a profitable trading franchise, drive strategy development, and work alongside a highly technical team focused on delivering cutting-edge systematic and quantitative trading solutions across Indian derivatives markets.
This role is ideally suited to individuals with a strong track record trading index options and a deep understanding of market microstructure within the NSE and BSE F&O ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow an HFT market making portfolio focused on Index Options across NSE and BSE F&O markets.
- Develop, enhance and deploy quantitative trading strategies to improve profitability, execution quality and market coverage.
- Drive portfolio performance through signal generation, market making optimisation and risk management.
- Work closely with researchers, traders and technology teams to identify new opportunities and improve existing strategies.
- Analyse market structure changes, exchange developments and competitive dynamics within Indian derivatives markets.
- Monitor portfolio risk and ensure robust capital allocation across strategies.
- Mentor and develop junior traders and researchers where appropriate.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing or contributing to a profitable HFT or electronic market making business.
- Strong expertise in Index Options trading within NSE and BSE F&O markets.
- Deep understanding of Indian derivatives market structure, liquidity dynamics and exchange rules.
- Strong quantitative and analytical capabilities with the ability to evaluate large datasets and develop alpha-driven ideas.
- Experience working with systematic, algorithmic or quantitative trading strategies.
- Strong knowledge of risk management, portfolio construction and execution optimisation.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with technology and research teams.
Preferred Background
- Experience in high-frequency market making, statistical arbitrage, volatility trading or systematic options strategies.
- Programming skills in Python, C++ or similar languages.
- Track record of taking strategies from research through to production and managing live P&L.
