Java Software Engineer
An ambitious AI-driven technology scale-up is looking for a Java Software Engineer to join its growing development team.
The company develops a SaaS platform focused on workforce planning, time registration and reporting, helping organisations better manage how employees are scheduled and how working hours are recorded and analysed.
The platform is already used by thousands of users, with customers operating across a wide variety of industries.
With Artificial Intelligence rapidly changing the Workforce Management market, the company is investing heavily in its next generation of technology, including smarter workforce planning, automated processing and intelligent management insights.
As a Java Software Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to help shape that journey.
The Role
You'll work on the continued development and scalability of the company's core SaaS platform, building robust software used by thousands of people every day.
You'll work closely with colleagues across Software Development, Product Management and Customer Success, transforming product ideas and customer requirements into reliable, scalable software.
Importantly, this isn't simply a ticket-driven development position. You'll have the opportunity to influence architecture, propose new technologies and contribute to how AI capabilities are integrated into the product.
Responsibilities
- Develop new platform functionality using Java
- Build and maintain Spring Boot microservices
- Design and develop scalable REST APIs
- Build integrations with external platforms and systems
- Write clean, maintainable and well-documented code
- Participate in code reviews
- Test, debug and optimise existing applications
- Improve platform reliability, performance and scalability
- Contribute to software architecture and technical decisions
- Help develop and integrate new AI-driven functionality
- Collaborate closely with Product and other business teams
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a software engineer who enjoys technical challenges and wants to have a visible impact on the product they're building.
Key Requirements
- HBO/WO degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar
- Strong professional experience with Java
- Good commercial experience with Spring Boot
- Experience with microservices architectures
- Knowledge of REST APIs
- Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases
- Experience with Git and modern development practices
- Strong understanding of maintainable software engineering
- Independent and proactive working style
- Interest in architecture and technical decision-making
- Good command of Dutch and English
Nice to Have
Experience with any of the following would be beneficial, but isn't essential:
