Investment Banking Vice President - Capital Markets
Overview
We are partner with a Houston Based Invesment Bank looking to add Vice President or Senior Associate to join a Capital Markets team focused on energy sector transactions. This role will play a key part in the origination, structuring, and execution of debt, equity, and asset-level financings, with a focus on upstream energy clients.
The position involves working across a broad range of advisory assignments, including capital raises, acquisition financing, and strategic financial analysis, while collaborating closely with senior team members and clients.
Responsibilities
- Support the origination, structuring, and execution of capital advisory assignments
- Serve as a primary point of contact during transaction execution and due diligence
- Coordinate cross-functional workstreams across internal teams and external stakeholders
- Develop client-facing materials, including presentations and confidential information memoranda (CIMs)
- Build and maintain financial models for reserve-based lending, NAV analysis, discounted cash flow analysis, and capital structure optimization
- Conduct valuation analyses, transaction comparables, and other financial assessments
- Assist in marketing financings and managing relationships with commercial banks, institutional investors, and alternative capital providers
- Monitor industry trends, commodity markets, and capital markets activity to identify financing opportunities
- Collaborate with advisory and banking teams on cross-product transactions, including acquisition financings and recapitalizations
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to team development
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or a related field (MBA or CFA preferred)
- 4-7+ years of experience in investment banking, capital markets, or energy finance, with exposure to upstream oil & gas transactions
- Strong financial modeling and valuation skills, including NAV and DCF analysis
- Knowledge of reserve-based lending, energy capital markets, and financing structures
- Experience executing transactions and preparing client marketing materials
- Solid understanding of capital markets products, including debt and equity instruments
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent written, presentation, and communication abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated leadership, attention to detail, and commitment to high-quality work
- Must be in Houston, TX or willing to relocate
